Summary

This project explores the journey of a Latino immigrant in Spain, tracing the path from South America (Venezuela) to Europe (Spain). It delves into the challenges, systems, and realities of immigration, highlighting both the obstacles and the opportunities available for integration into European society.

Through a visual and narrative-driven approach, we aim to shed light on the human experience behind migration, offering an intimate look at what it means to leave one’s home and build a future in a new country.

Challenge

Creating this project posed significant production challenges, as capturing the authentic immigrant experience required deep cultural sensitivity, access to real stories, and a compelling visual language.

❌ Finding genuine voices – Many immigrants are hesitant to share their experiences due to legal or social concerns.

Balancing emotional storytelling with objectivity – The project needed to be personal yet universally relatable.

Visually representing both struggle and hope – Ensuring that the imagery was powerful, but not exploitative.

Shooting in dynamic environments – Capturing natural, immersive shots that tell a story while maintaining a high production standard.

Solutions

To overcome these challenges, we implemented a thoughtful production strategy that ensured authenticity, high-quality visuals, and a deep emotional impact:

✅ Building trust with the subjects – Engaging in long conversations and capturing genuine moments instead of staged interviews.

✅ Cinematic yet documentary-style approach – Using natural lighting, intimate close-ups, and environmental framing to create a personal yet cinematic feel.

✅ Story-driven narrative structure – Focusing on personal testimonies, real-life environments, and natural sounds to immerse the audience in the experience.

✅ Adapting to on-location variables – Working with changing lighting conditions and capturing spontaneous interactions to add authenticity to the final visuals.
